The dura is the membrane
that covers and protects the human brain.In reality, the brain
is covered by 3 membranes called the meninges. The innermost
meninx (membrane) is the pia mater, or pia, which is highly
vascularized. The middle meninx is the arachnoid, which is
thin and delicate. The outermost meninx is the dura mater,
or dura, which is tough and fibrous, and protects the brain.
